Materials:
1 skein bulky weight yarn (I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in the color Oatmeal)
Size H (5.00mm) crochet hook
Fleece fabric for the lining (optional)
Yarn needle
Scissors

Gauge: 4 stitches per inch in half double crochet

Finished Size: One size fits most adults

Instructions:

To make the hat:
Chain 24.
Half double crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. (23 stitches)
Chain 1, turn.
Half double crochet in each stitch across. (23 stitches)
Repeat steps 3-4 until the hat measures 7 inches from the beginning.
Fold the hat in half and sew the sides together, leaving a 5-inch opening for the ear flaps.
Single crochet around the edge of the hat, working 2 single crochet stitches in each corner.

To make the ear flaps:
Chain 15.
Half double crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across. (14 stitches)
Chain 1, turn.
