How to Knit a Giant Adult Earflap Hat35

Materials:
Bulky weight yarn (6 or 7) - 1 skein
Large circular knitting needles (size 15 or 17)
Yarn needle

Gauge:

7 stitches per 4 inches in garter stitch

Size:

One size fits most adults

Instructions:

Cast On:
Using large circular needles, cast on 60 stitches.
Join round, being careful not to twist stitches.

Body:

Knit in the round in garter stitch (knit every round) until the hat measures approximately 10 inches from the cast-on edge.

Decrease for Crown:

Knit 3, knit 2 together, repeat around.
Next round: Knit around.
Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until there are 12 stitches remaining.

Close Crown:

Thread yarn needle with remaining yarn tail.
Draw needle through remaining stitches and pull tight to close.

Earflap:

Pick up 30 stitches along one long edge of the hat.

Finishing:
